Nassau County Red Light Cameras Aim to Change Driver Behavior

June 27th, 2010

With over 50 Nassau County red light cameras installed, the success of the program has not been seen as high costs of installation have to be recouped.  But according to reports, NAssau county is hoping to generate up to $10 million per year for the program.  But a side benefit of the plan is to change driver behavior at major intersections.

But an unforseen issue is that people are now breaking and driving much slower near these Nassau County Red Light Cameras and causing other drivers who might be trying to get through the light to skid to a stop or even cause an accident.

Are Nassau County Red Light Cameras causing more accidents?  Feel free to comment.
